Lent 2025 is March 5 - April 19
Lent is a time of prayer and reflection as the Church journeys toward Easter. It begins Ash Wednesday and spans 40 days (not counting Sundays).
Lent has been practiced by the Church since the fourth century. Traditionally it is observed by prayer, fasting (self-sacrifice), and giving (financially and/or in service).
The journey of Lent is opportunity to remember our own mortality and need for Christ. We focus on the suffering and sacrifice of our Lord, and the life he exampled for us to follow. Lent is a season to open oneself to the Holy Spirit for self-examination and repentance.
Lent is a journey that moves toward Easter. Although we travel through darkness during the season, we look forward to the celebration of Christ’s resurrection and triumph over sin and death.
